Katie Zaferes, a 2016 Olympian, chases after a world title on Saturday in Gold Coast, Australia.

The world championship medals are based on World Triathlon Series rankings, and for the women it has all come down to Saturday’s race. Zaferes leads Great Britain’s Vicky Holland by 34 points, which makes the title race simple. If Zaferes finishes ahead of Holland, she wins the gold; Holland wins if she’s ahead of Zaferes in Saturday’s race.

Zaferes has medaled in five of her last six WTS races.

Zaferes is among eight U.S. athletes competing in the ITU World Triathlon Grand Final in Gold Coast.
