After two weeks of non-stop tennis in Flushing Meadows, the 2018 US Open has finally drawn to a close, but not without some unexpected endings.
Serena Williams was highly favored going into the women’s singles final but fell short to Japan’s Naomi Osaka. A series of violations were front page news following Williams loss. A win would have been a record-tying 24th Grand Slam title and first since becoming a mother last year.
On Friday, men's doubles partners Mike Bryan and Jack Sock won their second consecutive Grand Slam title together. This was Bryan’s 120th career doubles title overall, and the duo’s 12th straight Grand Slam match victory going back to Wimbledon.
Women’s doubles duo CoCo Vandeweghe and Australian Ashleigh Barty also took home the coveted US Open trophy. The championship was the first major title for both players.
