The ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series kicked off over the weekend with Skate America in Everett, Washington. With 12 U.S. entries – three in each event – Team USA came away with three medals, continuing a trend of earning three or more at the annual domestic grand prix stop every year since 2012.
Now a freshman at Yale, Nathan Chen showed no signs of slowing down on the ice by winning his second straight Skate America title, this time by the highest margin of points (41.06) in competition history. The pairs team of Ashley Cain and Timothy LeDuc took bronze for its career-first grand prix medal. Meanwhile, ice dancers Madison Hubbell and Zachary Donohue earned gold for their first win at a full grand prix stop and the 10th consecutive victory by U.S. ice dancers at Skate America.
