Colton Brown and Angelica Delgado, both 2016 Olympians, are among 24 U.S. athletes competing this weekend at the IJF Cancun Grand Prix in Mexico.
Delgado, who has two top-five finishes in grand prix tournaments this year and won a silver medal at the 2018 Pan American Championships, is competing in the women’s 52 kg. weight class on Friday.
Brown, who won a bronze medal at the Pan American Championships, will compete in the men’s 90 kg. class on Sunday.
Joining Delgado in the women’s competition are: Anne Suzuki and Katelyn Jarrell, 48 kg.; Maria Dhami, 52 kg.; Leilani Akiyama and Amelia Fulgentes, 57 kg.; Alisha Galles and Hannah Martin, 63 kg.; Chantal Wright, 70 kg.; Nefeli Papadakis and Nicole Stout, 78 kg.; Nina Cutro-Kelly and Mackenzie Williams, +78 kg.
In addition to Brown, U.S. athletes on the men’s side are: Adonis Diaz, 60 kg.; Ryan Vargas and Alaa El Idrissi, 66 kg.; Alexander Turner, 73 kg.; Ruben Martin and Jack Hatton, 81 kg.; Matthew Koch, 90 kg.; Nate Keeve and L.A. Smith III, 100 kg.; Ajax Tadehara, +100 kg.
