On Sunday, the U.S. women's basketball team defeated Australia to win their third straight FIBA world championship in Tenerife, Spain.

In addition to winning gold, the team earned a spot at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020. The U.S. is the first women's basketball team to qualify for the Games and only the third U.S. sport to qualify overall.

Four-time Olympic gold medalists Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi helped lead Team USA to victory. Bird is the first U.S. player to appear in five World Cups and is now the only person in history with five FIBA World Cup medals.

Olympians Tina Charles, Elena Delle Donne, Brittney Griner and Breanna Stewart rounded off the squad. The U.S. finished the tournament undefeated, and now has 10 World Cup titles.
