Team USA’s Can’t-Miss Paralympic Event For Wednesday, March 14

By Karen Price | March 13, 2018, 1:05 p.m. (ET)

Kendall Gretsch competes in the women's 10-kilometer sitting biathlon at the Paralympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018 on March 13, 2018 in PyeongChang, South Korea.

U.S. military veterans and Paralympic Nordic skiing team members Dan Cnossen and Andy Soule snatched up a pair of medals, silver and bronze, respectively, in the men’s 12.5-kilometer sitting biathlon event on Tuesday and made history in the process.

It was Cnossen’s third medal of the Paralympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018, adding to his gold in 7.5K biathlon and silver in 15K cross-country. It was the first medal of 2018 for three-time Olympian Soule, who won bronze in the 2.4K biathlon pursuit in Vancouver in 2010.

It is also the first time two U.S. men have ever finished on the podium in biathlon in either the Olympic or Paralympic Games.

Kendall Gretsch, who already has two gold medals to her name, finished in fourth for the women. Four-time Paralympian Oksana Masters, who took silver in the 6K in biathlon and bronze in the 12K cross-country, has been battling an elbow injury and did not finish on Tuesday.

The U.S. men continued to dominate in sled hockey action, taking down host nation South Korea, 8-0, to win Group B and schedule a semifinal contest against Italy on Thursday.

The curling team suffered close losses to China and Canada.
