The U.S. Olympic Women's Ice Hockey Team achieved a two-decade-long goal Thursday when it defeated archrival Canada for the gold medal at the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018, which marked Team USA's first Olympic title since the sport's debut in 1998 and Canada's first loss in the gold-medal game since then. The Americans defeated their rivals from the north 3-2 in a penalty shootout behind heroic efforts from Maddie Rooney and Jocelyne Lamoureux-Davidson to bring home gold for the first time since 1998.
