Jennifer Valente and Kelly Catlin, who won silver medal in women’s team pursuit when they made their Olympic debuts at the Olympic Games Rio 2016, are among 17 U.S. cyclists chasing podium finishes at this week’s Pan-American Elite Track Championships in Mexico.

Valente was a three-time gold medalist at last year’s Pan-Am Championships, winning the points race, scratch race and omnium. She is also racing in the Madison and in team pursuit.

Valente, Catlin and Kim Geist, who are all on the Pan-Am team, combined with Chloé Dygert Owen to win a third consecutive world championship title in team pursuit in March.

Also defending their 2017 championships are team sprint partners Madalyn Godby and Mandy Marquardt.

The competition, which began Wednesday, goes through Sunday at the Bicentennial Velodrome in Aguascalientes.

Also racing in the women’s competition are Christina Birch and Jennifer Wheeler.

Daniel Holloway will race in four men’s events: Madison, omnium, points race and team pursuit. Also entered in the team pursuit are Adrian Hegyvary, Gavin Hoover, Ashton Lambie, Colby Lange and Eric Young.

Other U.S. men include Joe Christansen, Sandor Delgado, Josh Hartman and Dominic Suozzi in team sprint. Hoover and Lambie are also in the individual pursuit.
