20 Things We Learned About Team USA Last Week

Every week, Team USA is making headlines with new records, podium finishes and, sometimes, Olympic qualification! Last week, the U.S. softball team qualified for Tokyo 2020, USA Swimming dominated at Pan Pacs, and the Shib Sibs hung out with a very cute dog. It was a big week. Here's what you might have missed.

1. It doesn’t matter the track, Katie Uhlaender is a champion. The four-time winter Olympian is now a national champion in track cycling.

2. Get the brooms, we’ve got a sweep! Fencing took home all of the Team USA awards for the month of July after a historic showing at worlds.

3. Remember when you were 18 and a six-time world championship medalist? No? Just Julia Gaffney?

4. Paralympic swimmer Sophia Herzog feels like she is in her prime, which is really saying something considering she already has a silver medal under her belt.

5. Monica Abbott is the only player from the 2008 U.S. softball Olympic team to still be going strong for Team USA. Her role was shifted from rising star to established veteran, but the excitement hasn't faded.

6. The Shib Sibs AND a puppy? Count us in.

8. Win a gold medal, check. Now what? USA hockey twins Monica Lamoureuz-Morando and Jocelyne Lamoureus-Davidson announced that they are both pregnant!

9. Welcome to the hall of fame, Natalie Darwitz! The three-time Olympian is one of five members of the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame’s 2018 class.

10. Tokyo bound! The USA Sailing team earned three Olympic quota spots in Laser, Laser Radial and Men’s 470.

11. Olympian and Washington Capitals player T.J. Oshie got to spend the weekend with the Stanley Cup, and you need to check out the pictures.

12. In case you forgot, Jason Lezak is a legend.

13. The U.S. softball team became the first team in any nation in any sport to qualify for Tokyo 2020! Softball hasn’t been in the games since 2008, so, in case you didn't know, this is very, very exciting.

14. Next, they won the gold medal at world championships. Ok, USA Softball, we see you.

15. 10/10 on the selfie game, too.

16. USA Swimming had a big week at Pan Pacs, but Sunday was the most notable. They added 15 medals, thanks to star power from Ryan Murphy, Katie Ledecky, Kathleen Baker and more.

17. Meanwhile, Chloe Kim's Sunday mood is us, too. 

18. Summer Ross and Sara Hughes are prepared to be a pair you remember. The two won their first gold as a duo this weekend in Moscow.

19. Golfer Brooks Koepka is making a name for himself. He won the PGA Championship this weekend and joins an exclusive group of golfers to win the U.S. Open and PGA Championship in the same year. He’s also quietly won three of his last six majors.
