Shawn Johnson and Andrew East documented Johnson's pregnancy and miscarriage on their YouTube channel.

Olympic champion gymnast Shawn Johnson and husband Andrew East shared an emotional video on her YouTube channel on Saturday detailing the couple’s recent pregnancy and miscarriage.

Johnson, a four-time medalist at the Olympic Games Beijing 2008, warned that her newest video was sensitive.

“It’s not the happiest video, but we feel like a lot of people go through this so we wanted to share it,” she said.

The video cuts to a tearful Johnson getting the results of two home pregnancy tests indicating she and her husband were expecting their first child, then follows the couple through their reactions to the surprise.

Later, Johnson reveals that she’s having stomach pain and bleeding. The couple visits a doctor, who confirms the heartbreaking news that Johnson is having a miscarriage.

“It’s been a roller coaster of a few days,” Johnson says in the video. “We just got back from the doctor and I’m no longer pregnant. I somehow lost the pregnancy already. It sucks. It’s definitely no fun. We didn’t even know if we were ready for it. We weren’t sure we could do it and we were overwhelmed.”

Added East, “Yeah, we were scared and we were like, ‘Wow, I don’t think we’re ready for it.’ Then we talked about it and started getting excited about it.”

Johnson closes the video by saying that this won’t stop them, and they’ll have a family soon.

The gymnast and pro football player wed in April 2016.
