Celebrate Maia Shibutani's 23rd Birthday With 23 of Her Different Skating Costumes

Maia Shibutani, the younger half of the ice dancing duo known as the Shib Sibs, turns 23 years old July 20. To celebrate the 2014 Olympian, three-time world medalist and two-time U.S. champion, here's a look at 23 of her different skating costumes:

 

1) Smoldering Like An Ember

When Maia and her brother Alex took to the ice for their free dance at the 2016 Prudential U.S. Figure Skating Championships on Jan. 23, 2016, the bottom details of her dress made it appear like she was a flame slowly burning. 

 

2) A Purple Plunging Neckline

At the 2014 Prudential U.S. Figure Skating Championships, Maia chose a purple sequined dress with a plunging neckline for her short dance on Jan. 10, 2014.

 

3) Ruby Red In The Rink

While competing in the Smucker's Skating Spectacular at Skate America 2013 on Oct. 20, 2013 in Detroit, Maia wore a bedazzled dark red costume with shimmering tights.  

 

4) Fully In Bloom

Maia performed in this kimono-inspired outfit adorned with embroidered cherry blossoms at the 2013 Prudential U.S. Figure Skating Championships on Jan. 26, 2013 in Omaha, Neb. 

 

5) Orange Your Glad She Wore This

On Apr. 3, 2016, Maia wore a bright orange dress that glittered around the neckline while performing in the Exhibition of Champions at the ISU World Figure Skating Championships in Boston.

 

6) Flowers, Glitter and Beading

With floral details and lots of glitter, Maia looked stunning while competing at the Lexus Cup of China on Nov. 8, 2014 in Shanghai.

 

7) Black-Lace Beauty

While skating in the Smucker's Skating Spectacular at the 2016 Progressive Skate America at the Sears Center Arena in Chicago on Oct. 23, 2016, Maia wore a long-sleeved black lace top.

 

8) Ready For Worlds In Ruffles

At the 2011 World Figure Skating Championships, Maia competed in this pink dress with a ruffled neckline for her short dance on Apr. 28, 2011 in Moscow. 

 

9) A Starry Night

Maia invoked the night sky in this dark blue and black costume with a sparkly bodice for their free dance program at the ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championships on Feb. 17, 2017 in Gangneung, South Korea.

 

10) It's All In The Details

Maia wore this ensemble with an intricate bodice and ruffled skirt for the free dance portion of the 2015 Prudential U.S. Figure Skating Championships on Jan. 24, 2015 in Greensboro, North Carolina.

 

11) Breaking With Tradition

Forgoing a dress, Maia chose to wear a black pants and a sparkly vest for her short dance at the World Figure Skating Championships on March 31, 2017 in Helsinki.

 

12) Over The Top On The Ice

At the ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championships on Feb. 11, 2012 in Colorado Springs, Colo., Maia chose a purple dress that included sequins, glitter and feathers. 

 

13) A Creamsicle-Inspired Look

Maia rocked this orange and pink outfit complete with sparkles and cutouts in the free dance program at the 2012 Prudential U.S. Figure Skating Championships on Jan. 28, 2012 in San Jose, Calif.

 

14) A Little Bit Of Rock and Roll 

At the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating 2013/2014 NHK Trophy, Maia wore an one-sleeved black dress with mesh cutouts and sparkles. 

 

15) Once Upon A Time 

For the short program at the ISU World Figure Skating Championships, Maia wore a pink lace-up dress evoking a classic fairytale princess on March 30, 2016 in Boston. 

 

16) Beautiful Beading 

At the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final, Maia wore this flowing, dark blue halter top with elegant beading on Dec. 14, 2014 in Barcelona, Spain.

 

17) Shining Bright in Sochi

For the short dance at the Olympic Winter Games Sochi 2014, Maia wore a dazzling silver bodice with a flowing bright blue skirt at the Iceberg Skating Palace on Feb. 16, 2014 in Sochi, Russia. 

 

18) Embroidered Elegance

At the 2013 ISU World Figure Skating Championships, Maia chose a long-sleeved, high-necked navy blue dress with intricate embroidery for her short dance on March 14, 2013 in London, Ontario. 

 

19) Pretty In Pink

Maia wore this hot pink dress for her gala exhibition performance at the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating NHK Trophy on Nov. 13, 2011 in Sapporo, Japan.

 

20) Skating With The Bulls

Maia competed in this matador-inspired ensemble for her short dance program at the 2015 ISU World Figure Skating Championships on March 25, 2015 in Shanghai.

Maia wore a purple dress with gold details at the ISU World Figure Skating Championships on March 28, 2012 in Nice, France.

When Maia took the ice for her short dance at the ISU Rostelecom Cup of Figure Skating in Moscow on Nov. 9, 2012, she wowed the crowd with this fiery ensemble.

Maia once again chose a black ensemble for her performance at THE ICE 2014 on July 19, 2014 in Nagano, Japan.
