When Melissa Stockwell lost one of her legs in combat during the Iraq War, she was determined not to let the injury define her. She resolved that losing her leg wouldn't stop her from doing anything, especially the activities she loves, such as running and swimming. She wanted to prove to herself, her family and her country that she could still live the life she always wanted.
