David Herman, a 2012 Olympian, is among eight men who will compete Saturday in the U.S. Olympic Team Trials for BMX at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, California. The winner will qualify for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

In addition to Herman, others in the Olympic Trials are Jared Garcia, Corben Sharrah, Jeffery Upshaw, Barry Nobles, Justin Posey and Tanner Sebesta. The eighth entrant will be decided at a last chance qualifier Friday.

Sharrah began his season by winning a gold medal in a BMX Supercross World Cup race in March in Argentina.
