Today, the Center for the Study of Los Angeles at Loyola Marymount University released the results of its recent public opinion survey that found that 88% of Angelenos support Los Angeles hosting the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, compared with 12% opposed. Including those respondents who did not answer in the survey, 85% support LA hosting the Games, 11% oppose and 4% did not answer.

In reaction to the LMU poll, LA 2024 Chairman Casey Wasserman said: "The LMU poll finding enthusiastic public support for LA 2024's Olympic and Paralympic Games bid is a very strong indication that Angelenos have confidence in our fiscally responsible, sustainable and innovative plan for the Games. Angelenos' overwhelming support is consistent across all ages, all demographics and all the diverse cultures in LA, reaffirming our multicultural, multi-ethnic city's backing for bringing the Olympic Games to Los Angeles and to the United States for the first time in 28 years.”
Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti said: “The Olympics are in LA's DNA. Angelenos 'follow the sun' every day. They are optimists, innovators and big-dreamers. They embrace hard work, progress and opportunity. And they are constantly asking, 'What’s next?' Hosting a new Games for a new era doesn’t just fit the bricks and mortar of our city; it fits our citizens’ relentless spirit of reinvention. Angelenos welcomed the world with open arms in 1984 and we have experienced the benefits ever since, so we’re excited by the prospect of doing it again at a reimagined Games in 2024. The IOC can have complete confidence that if they award Los Angeles the honor of naming us Host City, they will be bringing the Games back to a city that truly loves them.”
The LMU poll follows a telephone survey conducted by the United States Olympic Committee from August 1-3, 2015 that found that 81% of Angelenos supported Los Angeles hosting the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
