"My Focus" is a weekly photo series in which TeamUSA.org (and @TeamUSA on Instagram) takes fans behind the scenes with some of the top Olympic and Paralympic athletes and hopefuls. Fans can get a glimpse into a day in the life of an athlete and see the hard work, dedication and sacrifice that is required on a daily basis to represent Team USA. In the second installment, meet bobsledder Dakarai Kongela as he rehabs from abdomen surgery at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

1) Hitting The Gym
Team USA bobsledder Dakarai Kongela works out twice a day in the strength and conditioning gym.

During Kongela’s morning workout, former UCLA track and field coach Nic Taylor chats with Kongela in the gym.

USA Bobsled and Skeleton’s Kongela shivers and laughs while getting into the cold tub.

4) Plan Of Attack
Kongela goes over a workout plan with trainer Davis Roast in the Ted Stevens Sports Services Center.

Kongela is often surrounded by athletes ffrom all sports, thanks to his positive attitude and high spirits.

6) Slow And Steady
Kongela is currently recovering from abdomen surgery, so he has to take workouts slow for now. Here he jogs with Nic Taylor and Elana Meyers Taylor, a two-time Olympic medalist in bobsled.

7) Home Sweet Home
Kongela packs a bag in his bedroom at the OTC to prepare for his next workout.

8) Training Smart
As he is recovering from surgery, Kongela spends a lot of his workouts focusing on mechanics.

9) Road To Recovery
It has been about one month since Kongela had surgery, and he is finally able to complete a full workout without weights.

10) Making Progress
Kongela is now able to complete lifting motions without adding weights. Kongela had abdomen surgery about a month ago.
