Hi All,

I want to say how thankful I am for all of your support along this journey.

For those of you who are new to following the women of USA Hockey, thank you for tuning in and expressing your support at such a critical moment — the world championships!

For those of you who have continued to follow and support us through both our failures and our successes, we are certainly very grateful, and we hope we can continue to spark your interest and feel your continued support.

Yes, ultimately we are the ones on the ice representing our country and competing for a world championship, but it is not simply about the immediate players or coaches in the dressing room. It is a journey of many. Many, many people have helped put each one of us in the best position to train and compete for a world title. If you ask anyone on our team they would all tell you something similar, it is such an honor to wear the U-S-A jersey and play for one’s country. So THANK YOU for your words of encouragement; we are all champions together!

Out of curiosity, I have a serious question:

What were you thinking when the score was 5-5?

Anyone have a mini panic attack?

When you approach a game, you watch film, you study plays and you prepare for that last game. The final game never unfolds the way you envisioned it! Drawing the first period up, ahead by a few goals leading into the second period…entering the locker room after the second period heading into the third period, tied—there were multiple energy fluxes in the final game. Sometimes these fluxes can get the best of you, but it is up to the team to rally behind each other.

With all the ups and downs we were a very skilled and confident pack. We had all the tools necessary to put ourselves in a great position to win the world championship, and so we did.

All of us snapped into gear in the third period. Every shift had so much potential to change the game, and so every shift each forward, defensemen (goalie too — shout out to Rigsby!) took, we understood the significance of our roles. Everyone stepped up; when one person fell down, another was there to help out. It was a team win and everyone took part in bringing the world championship back to the U-S-A.

For some of us that was our first world title; for others, it was our third or even fifth world title. Nonetheless, a win is a win, and when you can do it for your country, it is one of the best feelings in the world regardless of if it is your first or your fifth title!!

Thank you again for reading!

You’re the best!

Hejdå för nu!
