
Some say New York Fashion Week is like the Olympics of fashion. So it only makes sense that we spotted nine U.S. Olympians in attendance — both watching and walking — the Spring/Summer 2015 fashion shows this month in the Big Apple. Check out these behind-the-scene snaps to see what they were doing, who they were wearing and the celebs and fellow Olympians they were hanging with.
Miles Chamley-Watson
Olympic Experience: 2012 Olympic fencer
Shows Attended: None, the fashion model was too busy walking the runway for Etxeberria, Blasser/Anna Francesca and Sir New York
Fashion: Red leather jacket and knee-length shorts by Etxeberria
Fun Facts: Fellow Olympian, hurdler-turned-bobsledder Lolo Jones (who joined the upcoming season of “Dancing With the Stars”) joked on Twitter that Chamley-Watson’s runway outfit reminded her of something Eddie Murphy once wore.
Sasha Cohen
Olympic Experience: 2006 Olympic figure skating silver medalist
Shows Attended: Laurel DeWitt
Fashion: Strapless purple metal sequin dress by BCBG Max Azria
Fun Facts: Made an appearance at the Barbie CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America) event with friend and fellow athlete, Nastia Liukin, which was being held at TAO Downtown
Jazmine Fenlator
Olympic Experience: 2014 Olympic bobsled pilot
Shows Attended: Athleta, Etxeberria, CuteCircuit, Jay Godfrey and Chromat
Fashion: At the Etxeberria show she wore an Express Runway dress with a bomber jacket by Tracy Reese and Converse shoes; CuteCircuit show wore Vincetta New York dress and Rampage shoes
Fun Facts: Attended the VFILES Fashion Week pre-party at New York’s infamous Webster Hall and ForbesLife Magazine party with fellow Olympian Brianne McLaughlin

Olympic Experience: Two-time Olympic long-distance runner (2008, 2012)
Shows Attended: The long-distance runner slowed down long enough to walk the runway for women’s apparel line Oiselle.
Fashion: Purple running top and bottoms by Oiselle
Fun Facts: After finishing up a run in Central Park with the founder and CEO of Oiselle, the Olympian got excited after seeing actress Ashley Judd run past wearing the designer’s brand.

Olympic Experience: 2012 Olympic fencer
Shows Attended: The Olympian/model walked the Patrick Ervell show, as well as J. Crew, En Noir and Frank & Oak

Fun Facts: The fencer started modeling after being scouted by an agent during the London Olympic Games.
Nastia Liukin
Olympic Experience: Five-time Olympic gymnastics medalist (2008)
Shows Attended: Nanette Lepore
Fashion: Purple and black Nanette Lepore tank dress
Fun Facts: Was spotted taking photos with Emma Myles from “Orange Is the New Black” at the Simple Skincare & Caravan Stylist Studio Fashion Week event. Emma, who was a former gymnast, described meeting “the greatest gymnast on the planet” as “the highlight of my NYFW. You basically made my life.” She also grabbed almond milk lattes with Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps’ older sister, Hilary, who runs the lifestyle website Genuine Joy.
Brianne McLaughlin
Olympic Experience: Two-time Olympic ice hockey silver medalist (2010, 2014)
Shows Attended: Etxeberria, Jay Godfrey, “Project Runway” finale, CuteCircuit, Zimmermann, Luis Antonio and Academy of Art University

Fun Facts: Ran into Laverne Cox from the “Orange Is the New Black” at a Samsung Fashion Week event
Lindsey Vonn
Olympic Experience: Two-time Olympic alpine skiing medalist (2010)
Shows Attended: “Project Runway” finale as a guest judge and the show of Season 4 winner Christian Siriano
Fashion: Hot pink sleeveless dress by Christian Siriano and white high heels
Fun Facts: After spending time in New York for Fashion Week, the ski racer told the New York Post, “This will be my last fashion moment for a little bit, then back to athletics for me.”

Serena Williams
Olympic Experience: Four-time Olympic tennis gold medalist (2000, 2008, 2012)
Shows Attended: Presented her own clothing line on day six of NYFW
Fashion: Black crop top and skirt by Signature Statement Collection for HSN, of course
Fun Facts: Less than 48 hours after winning her sixth US Open title, the talented tennis player put on her first show at NYFW. Her friend/Open runner-up, Caroline Wozniacki, sat front row (wearing a burgundy dress from Williams’ line).
