Sean Rosenthal (L) and Phil Dalhausser hold their silver medals after their Transavia Grand Slam final on July 20, 2014 in The Hague, Netherlands.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – USA Volleyball has named Phil Dalhausser and Sean Rosenthal its 2014 Beach Team of the Year.

In 2014, Dalhausser (Ormond Beach, Fla.) and Rosenthal (Redondo Beach, Calif.) get back on track as they won three gold medals, one silver and one bronze on the FIVB World Tour and one gold, one silver and one bronze on the AVP Tour.

The pair finished the season ranked No. 2 overall by the FIVB and first among a strong contingent of U.S. men’s beach teams, with three ranked in the FIVB top 10.

One of the 2014 high points for Dalhausser, 34, and Rosenthal, 34, was reaching the finals in four straight FIVB World Tour grand slams, taking three gold medals in Stavanger (Norway), Gstaad (Switzerland), and Long Beach, Calif., and silver in The Hague, Netherlands.

The other high point was the team’s first victory at the Manhattan Beach Open, part of the AVP Tour. The team won even while Dalhausser was playing with an abdominal strain that would force him to stop playing for the season two weeks later at the AVP event in Cincinnati.

Both athletes are two-time Olympians. Dalhausser won gold in 2008 with Todd Rogers who was also his partner in 2012. Rosenthal competed in '08 and '12 with Jake Gibb.
