By Tim Morehouse, 2008 Olympic Fencing Silver Medalist | May 10, 2013, 3 p.m. (ET)

Tim Morehouse won
the silver medal in
the men's team saber
fencing at the Beijing
2008 Olympic Games.

Gabby Douglas competes in the floor exercise at the
2012 London Olympic Games.

It has been quite the roller-coaster ride for two-time Olympic gold medalist Gabby Douglas since the 2012 London Games, where she became the first African American gymnast in Olympic history to become the individual all-around champion.

Since the London Games, Gabby – along with the rest of her Fierce Five teammates – has been making the rounds on talk shows, speaking and inspiring at various events and endorsing products.

I caught up with Gabby at the U.S. Olympic Committee gala in Atlanta a few weeks ago. We sat on a panel with four-time Olympic swimming champion Janet Evans to help promote the Olympic movement in the Atlanta area. We also paid a visit to Westminster High School to speak to enthusiastic students.  (Side note: Olympic fencers Sada and Emily Jacobson both attended Westminster!)

Gabby and I chatted about what it’s like to be on the road with her mom, her new viral Nike commercial and some of the crazy video requests she gets from her fans!
