MEDIA ADVISORY: USOC , USA Softball to Host Teleconference Tuesday, May 6 in honor of all Olympic Mothers COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.-The United States Olympic Committee (USOC) and USA Softball will host a teleconference Tuesday, May 6 at 10 a.m. MDT (12 p.m. EDT) with Olympians Jennie Finch (La Miranda, Calif.) and Stacey Nuveman (La Verne, Calif.) in honor of their status as both Olympians and mothers. With Mother's Day approaching, Finch and Nuveman represent more than 19 Olympians and Olympic hopefuls that must balance motherhood along with their Olympic dreams. Widely recognized as one of the best softball players in the world, Finch is a 2004 Olympian, two-time World Cup champion (2003, 2007) and two-time World champion. During her collegiate stint with the University of Arizona, she was a three-time All-American and broke the NCAA record for consecutive wins with 60 (2002). In May 2006, Finch gave birth to her son Shane Daigle, who she lists as her No. 1 roommate. Since returning to the national team in 2007, she led the team in appearances during the summer with a 5-0 record and 0.23 ERA. Click here for a bio on Jennie Finch. Nuveman has been one of America's most successful catchers. A two-time Olympic gold medalist (2000, 2004), her resume also sports double gold medals at the World Championships (2002, 2006) and Pan American Games (1999, 2003). In 2006, Nuveman hit .241 with three homeruns and eight RBI's to help Team USA on their way to their World Cup championship. Nuveman and her husband Mark welcomed their son, Chase Gregory Deniz, into the world June 6, 2007.
