March 31, 2008, 1 a.m. (ET)

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.-The United States Olympic Committee and USA Softball will host a teleconference Tuesday, April 1 at 10 a.m. MT (12 p.m. ET) with recently named 2008 USA Softball Olympic Team members Monica Abbott (Salinas, Calif.), Laura Berg (Santa Fe Springs, Calif.) and Stacey Nuveman (La Verne, Calif.) to discuss the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Selections and Team USA's Bound 4 Beijing Tour. Abbott, the youngest member of the team, is a two-time National Team member. She also competed as a member of the 2004 World University Team and 2003 Junior Team. In 2007, Abbott led the Team USA pitching staff with a 6-0 record and a 0.00 ERA. In 26.2 innings pitched, she issued no walks and no earned runs. While pitching for the University of Tennessee, Abbott earned the 2007 Women's Sports Foundations"Team Sport Athlete of the Year"honor. In her senior season with the Vols, Abbot set a career and single season NCAA record with 180 victories, 2,440 strikeouts, 112 shutouts, 253 appearances and 1,448.0 innings pitched. She is also Tennessee's first softball All-American. Berg, a three-time Olympic gold medalist, is set to make her fourth field appearance at an Olympic Games as part the 2008 Women's National Team. Along with three Olympic gold medals, Berg has captured gold at four World Championships. In 2006, Berg set the record for most World Championship appearances with four while hitting .346 (9 for 26). She hit the lone triple for Team USA at those championships and held a perfect fielding percentage. Her resume also boasts gold-medal performances in three Pan American Games. Berg received the honor of carrying the U.S. flag during closing ceremonies at the 2007 Pan American Games. An integral part of the 2000 and 2004 Team USA gold medal victories, Stacey Nuveman is returning to her third Team USA Olympic roster. Leading with experience as fourth oldest member of the team, the catcher seems to be able to come up with big hits, producing the only hit of the 2000 gold-medal game and a homerun in the 2004 gold-medal game. Most recently, Nuveman scored the winning run against Japan on a solo homer in the championships game at the 2006 World Championships. Nuveman returns to the squad after taking the 2007 season off with the birth of her son, Chase Gregory Deniz.
