MEDIA ADVISORY: USOC , USA Basketball to Host Teleconference Wednesday, March 5 to Preview Spring Training Plans COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The United States Olympic Committee and USA Basketball will host a teleconference Wednesday, March 5 at 10:30 a.m. MST (12:30 p.m. EST) with USA Basketball Women's National Team head coach Anne Donovan (Ridgewood, N.J.), three-time Olympic gold medalist Lisa Leslie (Inglewood, Calif.) and two-time Olympic gold medalist Katie Smith (Logan, Ohio) to discuss the USA's upcoming spring training as the team continues to prepare for Beijing. Donovan won two Olympic gold medals as a player and helped lead Team USA to gold in Athens as a 2004 Olympic team assistant coach. The three-time Olympian has been a player on 11 USA Basketball teams and is one of the most decorated players in USA Basketball history. With almost three decades of experience with USA Basketball, U.S. teams with Donovan on their sidelines have racked up an impressive 115-8 record accounting for a 93.5 winning percentage. The former head coach of the Seattle Storm spent eight years coaching in the WNBA and piloted the Storm to the WNBA crown in 2004. While coaching at the professional ranks, she became the fourth WNBA coach and first woman, to reach the 100-victory milestone. She was inducted as a player into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 1995 and into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 1999. Leslie, who just returned to court after taking a year off following the birth her daughter, is a three-time Olympic gold medalist and one of only seven USA Basketball three-time Olympians (Anne Donovan, Teresa Edwards, Katrina McClain, David Robinson, Dawn Staley and Sheryl Swoopes). A two-time USA World Championship Team gold medalist and MVP of the '02 Worlds, Leslie ranks as the USA's all-time leading scorer, rebounder and shot blocker in Olympic competition. Leslie is a current member of the Los Angeles Sparks and a three-time WNBA League MVP. She was named a member of the WNBA All-Decade Team in 2006. A 2000 and 2004 Olympic gold medalist, Smith captured gold medals as a member of the 1998 and 2002 USA World Championship teams. She has been workhorse on USA Basketball teams since 1993 and has also prospered professionally, winning the 2006 WNBA title with the Detroit Shock and the 1997 and 1998 ABL crowns with the Columbus Quest. Smith is a six-time WNBA All-Star and was also named to the WNBA All-Decade Team in 2006.
