BEIJING (AP) Tatiana Shchegoleva scored 19 points and Russia beat Spain 84-65 on Tuesday night in the women's basketball quarterfinals at the Olympics.
Russia will play the United States in the semifinals on Thursday.
Spain got it's offense going early an led 28-10 in the second quarter. But Russia went on a 20-6 run to get back into the game and trailed by only eight at halftime, 40-32.
U.S.-born Becky Hammon, a naturalized Russian citizen, scored eight points in the third quarter and Russia led 56-55 after three periods. Hammon finished with 17.
Amaya Valdemoro led Spain with 16.
