"The United States Olympic Committee (USOC) expresses its condolonces to the family, friends and staff members of Congressman John Murtha.  Congressmen Murtha was a leader that served his Country and ensured that our armed forces and veterans were a high priority for our Nation.   As a result of his leadership, the USOC, along with USOC member organizations, are providing sports programs as part of the rehabilitation process for injured service members and veterans through its Paralympic programs.
Today, more than 114 communities, 31 warrior transition units, and 17 veteran facilities have established Paralympic programs that serve our injured heroes, as a result of John Murtha's commitment and leadership.   
In tribute to Congressmen Murtha, the USOC Paralympic program will continue to play a leadership role in serving our nations best, while honoring a truly great leader and American.
