‚ÄčTop weekend performances by U.S. biathlete Tim Burke (Paul Smiths, N.Y.) and alpine skier Lindsey Vonn (Vail, Colo.) helped showcase a successful weekend for U.S. athletes as they ready themselves for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver.

Other top U.S. performances over the weekend included a historic 1-2 finish in Nordic Combined for Bill Demong (Vermontville, N.Y.) and Todd Lodwick (Steamboat Springs, Colo.) as well as first-place finishes by Lindsey Jacobellis (Stratton, Vt.) and Nate Holland (Squaw Valley, Calif.) in snowboardcross. Not to be outdone were the sliding sports of luge and bobsled with three medals of their own including a bronze for Erin Hamlin (Remsen, N.Y.) in luge and silver and bronze in four-man bobsled competition. Hamlin broke through with her second bronze of the season and second World Cup medal of her career while The Night Train crew piloted by Steven Holcomb (Park City, Utah) pocketed silver, their fifth medal of the season, and John Napier (Lake Placid, N.Y.) added bronze to his rapidly growing list of sliding achievements.
