John Heaton is one of only two Winter Olympians to have won a medal both before and after World War II (Bibi Torriani, Swiss ice hockey player, is the other). Jim Shea is the grandson of Jack Shea, who won two gold medals in speed skating in 1932 and took the Oath of the Athletes at the 1932 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid.

Skeleton – Women

This event has only been held twice. In 2002, the United States won gold (Tristan Gale) and silver (Lea Ann Parsley) medals. No slider has won two medals in the event. Only Great Britain has also won two medals as a nation (2002 bronze, 2006 silver).
