The Team USA Awards will be held Nov. 19 at Universal Studios and hosted by Olympic wrestling champion Jordan Burroughs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee has opened media registration for two premier Team USA events happening in November. The U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Hall of Fame class of 2019 induction ceremony will be held Friday, Nov. 1, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. A few weeks later, the 2019 Team USA Awards presented by Dow, Best of the Year – co-hosted by NBC Olympics – will be held Tuesday, Nov. 19, at Universal Studios in Los Angeles. The awards show recognizes the most outstanding U.S. performances throughout the year.

The U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Hall of Fame class of 2019 has represented the United States at a combined 36 Olympic and Paralympic Games, tallying 79 medals, including 43 golds. NBC Sports’ Jimmy Roberts will host the induction ceremony at the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

The inductees include Candace Cable (Para alpine skiing, Para Nordic skiing, Para track and field), Lisa Leslie (basketball), Nastia Liukin (gymnastics), Misty May-Treanor (beach volleyball), Apolo Anton Ohno (short track speedskating), Erin Popovich (Para swimming), Dara Torres (swimming), Chris Waddell (Para alpine skiing, Para track and field), the 1998 U.S. Olympic Women’s Ice Hockey Team, John Carlos (legend: track and field), Tommie Smith (legend: track and field), Ron O’Brien (coach: diving) and Tim Nugent (special contributor).

The Team USA Awards Best of the Year – for which The Dow Chemical Company has served as the presenting sponsor since 2015 – recognizes the most outstanding U.S. performances throughout the year, and a complete list of 2019 finalists can be found here. Team USA athletes from a variety of summer and winter sports will attend the ceremony, which will take place at 6 p.m., and will be hosted by Olympic wrestling champion Jordan Burroughs.

In addition, the event will include medal reallocation ceremonies for the Team USA two-man and four-man bobsled teams at the Olympic Winter Games Sochi 2014. Chris Fogt (four-man), Steve Langton (two-man and four-man), Curt Tomasevicz (four-man), and family members of the late Steven Holcomb (two-man and four-man) will receive their Olympic silver medals and be honored in special medal reallocation ceremonies.

Red carpet arrivals will begin at 4:30 p.m., and will feature a star-studded parade of inspiring athletes and VIPs, with additional names to be announced shortly. 

The Team USA Awards will air Dec 22 on NBC at 3 p.m. ET.
