COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee will host a media teleconference on Monday, July 22, in advance of one-year out to the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.

The call will feature Team USA’s first Tokyo 2020 Olympic qualifier, Haley Anderson (open water swimming, Olympian 2012, 2016), and Oz Sanchez (Para-cycling, Paralympian 2008, 2012, 2016). They will be joined by Julie Dussliere, USOPC chief of Paralympic sport, and Finbarr Kirwan, USOPC vice president of summer sport performance.

Anderson (Granite Bay, California) is a two-time Olympian and silver medalist (2012) in the sport of open water swimming. She earned Tokyo 2020 qualification by virtue of her performance in the women’s 10-kilometer race at the FINA World Championships in Gwangju, South Korea on July 14. She will also represent the United States in the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru, this summer.

Sanchez (San Diego, California) is a three-time Paralympian and six-time Paralympic medalist (two golds, one silver and three bronzes) aiming to qualify for the Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020. He is the reigning road world champion in the MH5 time trial and team relay. Sanchez spent six years as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps, deploying twice to the Middle East. Following his injury, he dedicated himself to the sport of cycling, and is now considered as one of the premier hand cyclists in the world.

Dussliere oversees the high-performance planning, support processes and sport development projects for the 28 summer and winter Paralympic sports, including six managed internally by the USOPC. She also serves as the president of the Americas Paralympic Committee, becoming the first woman and U.S. representative to lead the organization.

Kirwan is responsible for leading a team of sport experts in support of Team USA’s summer sports programs. Before joining the USOPC, Kirwan was the director for high performance at The Irish Sports Council
