Parents and Coaches of Young Table Tennis Players Encouraged to Attend ZOOM Discussion Regarding USATT’s

SafeSport Initiative and Other Issues Important to the Development and Safety of Minor-Aged Athletes

(Colorado Springs, CO – May 28, 2020) – USA Table Tennis (“USATT”), the National Governing Body for the sport of table tennis, today announced that the organization will host a guided discussion for parents and coaches of minor-aged table tennis players regarding the safety and development of young athletes on Tuesday, June 2 @ 5:00 pm US Mountain.

The discussion, which is open to parents of minor-aged table tennis players and their coaches, will be hosted and guided on ZOOM by USATT staff members, including the Chief Executive Officer, Virginia Sung, the Athlete Protection Officer, Mark Thompson, and the High Performance Director, Sean O’Neill. The panel will also include members of the Team USA Athletes Advisory Council, National Team Captains, and other possible special guests. Topics of discussion will include USATT’s SafeSport Policies and Procedures, as well as efforts being undertaken to encourage a positive interaction between parents, coaches and young athletes.

“We believe that this is an important moment in the history of our sport and organization with respect to the development and safety of our young athletes,” said CEO Virginia Sung. “USATT wants to make as many resources available as we can to our parents and coaches, so we can create, promote and foster a safe and fun environment within which our young players can flourish.”
