College Station, Texas – The AT&T National Diving Championships kicked off Tuesday with preliminaries in all four synchronized diving events at the Student Recreation Center on the campus of Texas A&M.

The top six teams in each event advance to the finals, which will be held August 14 and 15.

Three-time Olympian Troy Dumais (Austin, Texas) and Kristian Ipsen (Clayton, Calif.), the 2010 World Cup silver medalists, led the men’s synchronized 3-meter preliminaries with 438.81 points. Missouri Diving teammates Greg DeStephen (Columbus, Ohio) and David Bonuchi (Columbia, Mo.) took second, and GC Diving’s Bradley Christensen (Southlake, Texas) and Bryce Klein (Southlake, Texas) finished third.

Five of the six teams advancing in the women’s synchronized 3-meter contest have Texas ties. Leading the field in the preliminaries were Kassidy Cook (The Woodlands, Texas) and Cassidy Krug (Pittsburgh, Pa.), who turned in the top score of 265.50. Former University of Texas diver Summer Allman (Lansing, Mich.) and Bianca Alvarez (Miami, Fla.) were second, and Emma Ivory-Ganja (The Woodlands, Texas) and Kendall McClenney (The Woodlands, Texas) took third in the preliminaries. Three-time Olympian Laura Wilkinson (Spring, Texas) and Kaylea Arnett (Spring, Texas) will also dive in Saturday’s synchronized 3-meter finals as an exhibition team.

2008 Olympian David Boudia (Noblesville, Ind.) and Nick McCrory (Chapel Hill, N.C.) topped the men’s synchronized 10-meter field with 459.15 points, followed by Toby Stanley (Conway, Ark.) and Steele Johnson (Carmel, Ind.) in second at 357.78. Sean Mokhtari (Houston, Texas) and Michael Beran (Austin, Texas) were third.

Jessica Parratto (Dover, N.H.) and Kristen Asman (Columbus, Ohio) scored 285.00 points to lead the women’s synchronized 10-meter preliminaries. Amy Cozad (Decatur, Ind.) and Laura Ryan (Elk River, Minn.) took second, and Ivory-Ganja and McClenney were third.

Finals for the women’s 3-meter synchro and men’s 10-meter synchro will be held Saturday, August 14. Finals for men’s 3-meter synchro and women’s 10-meter synchro are set for Sunday, August 15.

The AT&T National Diving Championships continue through August 15. Wednesday’s competition includes women’s 3-meter quarterfinals and semifinals and men’s 1-meter semifinals and finals. The quarterfinals begin at noon; the finals are set for 6 p.m.
