Track & Field Preview
With all roads leading to the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo, U.S. Paralympics Track & Field begins an exciting stretch of competitions beginning with the 2019 Parapan American Games. Sixty athletes and four guides will travel to Lima, Peru for five days of action from the Athletics Stadium in the Villa Deportiva Nacional Videna cluster. Competition will take place from Aug. 24-28

Highlighting the roster of 39 men and 25 women are 25 Paralympians who will line up in Lima, including 2016 Paralympic champions Deja Young (Mesquite, Texas), David Brown (St. Louis, Missouri) and guide Jerome Avery (Lemoore, California), Breanna Clark (Los Angeles, California) and Gianfranco Iannotta (Garfield, New Jersey). 

Ten members of the U.S. team that competed at the 2019 World Para Athletics Junior Championships will turn around two weeks later and compete in Lima. The group collectively won 21 of Team USA’s 28 medals in Nottwil, Switzerland and will hope to build on their success while also gaining more international experience.

In addition to contributing to world rankings that will affect selection to the 2020 Games, Team USA will also be preparing for the 2019 World Para Athletics Championships in Dubai, United Arab Emirates from November 7-15.
