Soccer 7-a-side Preview
The men’s 7-a-side will begin their Lima campaign with tournament play on Saturday, Aug. 24 against Colombia at Complejo Deportivo Villa Maria del Triunfo. They will face tough competition against Venezuela, Argentina, home country Peru and 2016 Paralympic bronze medalists Brazil.

The team comes off a sixth-place finish at the International Federation of Cerebral Palsy (IFCPF) World Cup in Spain. The U.S. will be led by Nick Mayhugh, the leading scorer for Team USA in Spain, as well as Paralympians Seth Jahn, David Garza, Adam Ballou and Drew Bremer.

No longer on the Paralympic Games program, 7-a-side soccer continues to compete at major competitions, including the Parapan Am Games and the world cup, with hopes of returning to the program for the Paralympic Games Los Angeles 2028. The sport is played by athletes with cerebral palsy on a reduced field of play with seven athletes, including a goalkeeper. There is no offside rule, and throw-ins or rolling the ball back onto the field of play are allowed.

Medal matches will take place after a week of competition on Saturday, Aug. 31.
