In the women’s monobob event, Maddy Cohen raced her first run in a time of 1:16.06, while her second run notched a time of 1:15.91 to finish 14th overall.


Cross-Country Skiing

Five U.S. athletes took to the course today for the men’s and women’s cross-country sprint. After advancing out of the qualification round with a time of3:22.98, Will Koch competed in the quarterfinals, finishing fourth with a time of 3:26.22, but did not advance to the semifinals. Brian Bushey did not advance to the quarterfinals. 

In the women’s sprint, Sydney Palmer-Leger and Kendall Kramer both advanced to the quarterfinal round. In the quarterfinals, Palmer-Leger finished in second place with a time of 2:55.53 to advance to the semifinals. In the semifinals, she improved upon her previous time to finish in 2:52.17 but did not advance to the finals. Teammate Kramer completed the quarterfinal round in 2:55.80 but did not advance to the semifinals, while Nina Seemann did not advance past the qualification round.



In the mixed-country doubles event, Team USA’s Charlie Thompson teamed up with Germany’s Kim Sutor to take on athletes from France and Norway, while American Alina Tschumakow paired with Italy’s Francesco De Zanna to play athletes from Poland and South Korea. 

Down 7-3 at the end of six ends, Tschumakow and De Zanna were able to tie the match, 7-7, in a strong seventh end. In the eighth and final end, however, their opponents were able to gain a single point to win the game, 8-7. 

Fellow American Thompson and his partner Sutor also found themselves in a tie game, with the score 5-5 after six ends. In the final two ends, their opponents gained two points to defeat the American and German duo, 7-5.


Freestyle skiing

Eli Derrick was the sole competitor in ski cross for Team USA, racing in the men’s event. In a series of close races, Derrick tallied two second-place finishes and three third-place finishes in his five heats to finish 19th overall. 

Men’s slopestyle events were postponed due to weather.


Ice Hockey

In a battle against the home team of Switzerland, the U.S. continued its winning ways, defeating the Swiss, 8-2, in an exciting game. Isaac Howard recorded a hat trick to lead Team USA in scoring, while Chelsey Ryan also recorded a three-point night with one goal and two assists.

With the win, Team USA cements its spot in the semifinals on Jan. 21.

Ski Jumping

In the women’s individual event, Annika Belshaw and Paige Jones represented Team USA. Belshaw earned 90.5 points in her first jump and followed that with 73.4 points to finish in 21st place with a total score of 163.9. Jones notched 82.2 points on the first round and 70.9 on the second round to finish in 23rd place with 153.1 points. 

On the men’s side, Erik Belshaw and Landon Lee donned the red, white and blue. Belshaw claimed 102.2 points in his first jump and 93.8 in his second jump to finish in 22nd place with 196 points. Lee earned 73.1 points on the first round and 76.4 points on the second round to finish with 149.5 points for 32nd place.


Men’s slopestyle events were postponed due to weather.
