Learned competitive swimming from uncle, who ran a ran school in Florida...Initially was passionate about football, but was too small to play and joined the swim team instead...Moved to California to train at the Santa Clara Swim Club as a teenager...Wrote two books, “Deep Water” and “Inside Swimming” in 1971 and 1974...His gold medals are on display to the public at a local bank in downtown Lake Oswego...Father to three children: Jeb, Kyle and Katie.
