Diving (1 bronze)
After finishing the preliminary round in fifth place, Bridget O'Neil came back in the afternoons finals to secure a bronze medal. O’Neil scored 439.60 points in the final to secure her podium position by more than 10 points. O’Neil’s best dive was third round reverse two and a half somersaults which earned her a 61.60. MORE.

Golf (1 silver)
Lucy Li and Akshay Bhatia secured the silver medal after closing the mixed team event with a round of combined individual play. The U.S. golfers had the best result of the day to move into the silver-medal position after finishing the foursome and four-ball rounds in third place. The duo carded 11-under par (60-68-140---268) to close competition in Buenos Aires. MORE.

Both U.S. archers advanced to the top 16 and will continue competing tomorrow. Catalina GNoriega was victorious over Isabella Bassi of Chile in the women’s recurve individual 1/16 elimination round. After tying the match 5-5, GNoriega shot first in the shoot off  and landed a solid 9, putting the pressure on the Chilean athlete, who scored an 8 and lost. Trenton Cowles went 6-0 against Mateus de Carvalho Almeida of Brazil.

In the women’s shoot-out contest, Paige Bueckers advanced to the final round and finished just shy of the podium in fourth place. Sam Brunelle competed in the qualifying round but did not advance to the final. Carson McCorkle advanced to the semifinals of the men’s dunk contest, finishing fourth. MORE.

Beach Volleyball      
The women’s team of Lindsey Sparks and Devon Newberry won 2-1 over Spain’s Daniela Alvarez Mendoza and Tania Moreno Matveeva in the quarterfinal. The Americans won the first set 21-19, dropped the second 21-17, and closed with a 15-9 win. The U.S. team advances to Tuesday’s semifinal against Italy. The men’s team of Tim Brewster and John Schwengel did not advance out of the quarterfinals with a 2-0 loss to the Netherland’s Matthew Immers and Yorick de Groot.

In the women’s fly (48-51 kg.) preliminary, Heaven Garcia faced Zhansaya Abdraimova of Kazakhstan and won in a 3:2 decision. She will face Italy’s Martina La Piana in Tuesday’s semifinal. Team USA’s Otha Jones fell to Russia’s Llia Popov in the men’s light welter (64 kg.) preliminary round.

In the kayak obstacle slalom event, Ria Sribar finished fifth in the qualification heats to advance to the semifinals, where she bested Stella Sukhanova of Kazakhstan by a whopping eight seconds. In the quarterfinals, Sribar fell to Tzu-Hsuan Lai of Chinese Taipei by just 0.43 seconds.

Brandon Briones
 just missed the medal podium for fourth place in the horizontal bar final, scoring a 13.133 just behind Hungary’s Krisztian Balazs’ 13.233. MORE.

The U.S. men’s rugby sevens team ended their Youth Olympic Games competition with a fifth-place finish. In the morning, Team USA fell to Argentina, finishing 22-14 after playing a man-down in the closing minutes. The host nation would go on to win the gold in the afternoon. In the 5-6 placing match, the U.S. men ended with a win as they topped Samoa 22-14. MORE.

Malcolm Clemons was scheduled to compete in the second stage of the men’s long jump, but withdrew due to injury.
