Hey everyone! So after the last few blogs being some of my deeper thoughts on sport and the process I’ve been going through since retiring, I thought I’d have a little fun with it this week!
Recently, the bobsled World Cup passed through my adopted home city of Calgary, Canada and it gave me the opportunity to really have nothing but fun with the sport I loved so dearly for a decade and a platform that fulfilled my athletic dreams. It always had such serious undertones, even as the boys on the Night Train and I did everything we could to have fun and keep things in perspective. This week was nothing but fun for me so first things first, let’s take a trip down the Calgary track!
(Warning, the audio gets pretty windy on the broadcast feed. And yup, that’s my cam with me on the way down the track!)
I’ll tell you, after a decade that is still fun for me. It’s not nearly the adrenaline rush it once was or what it was standing at the top of a track like Whistler but in case you couldn’t tell, I was still having a blast. The TV crew wanted to try and use that for the broadcast but we were having issues with the audio, which you can tell.
Earlier in the week I thought I would take advantage of some of the best sledders in the world and bring you all a little tutorial on safety and speed while sledding in your own backyard. Winter is upon us all over North America now and just a couple days ago Minneapolis had so much snow we all got to watch the dome come down so I figured it’s the perfect time to head out to our backyards or parks and find some speed on the snow!
(Again, the wind gets whipping pretty good at the top of the track, but I did the best I could to dampen it, enjoy!)
