Chief Marketing and Communications Officer

Luella Chavez D’Angelo has served as the chief marketing and communications officer for the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee since September 2019. In her role, Chavez D’Angelo leads all USOPC marketing and communications initiatives, and is responsible for helping tell the inspiring stories of Team USA athletes and the USOPC role in helping them as they achieve their dreams.

Chavez D’Angelo brings over 30 years of experience as a top marketing and communications executive to the USOPC. She joins the organization from Centura Health, where she served as the vice president of marketing and communications and was responsible for leading and implementing strategies for positioning, brand reputation management and growth impact.

She has also served as vice chancellor, general manager and chief operating officer of the University of Colorado, South Denver, where she was responsible for developing the organization’s business plan to introduce new education impact strategies. Prior to the role, she was chief global communications officer for Western Union, developing digital, marketing, communication and corporate social responsibility strategies for the financial institution.

Chavez D’Angelo earned her MBA in finance from the University of New Mexico, where she worked as chief marketing officer for the university’s Health Sciences Center before relocating to Colorado. She earned the Denver Business Journal’s Outstanding Women in Business Career Achievement Award in 2014 and was named a Top 10 Leader of 2014 by the Executive Hispanic Magazine.

She is heavily involved in the community, serving on the board of the Women’s Forum of Colorado, the Denver Scholarship Foundation and Delta Dental of Colorado. She received the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce, 2017 Del Hock Award for Community Service.
