USOPC Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Awards
The USOPC Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Awards recognize the work of National Governing Bodies and High Performance Management Organizations for progress on their diversity, equity and inclusion efforts. The USOPC diversity, equity & inclusion department presents these two awards at the annual U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Assembly. The NGB and/or HPMO honorees receive a plaque and $5,000 for use in further enhancing diversity and inclusion initiatives within their organizations.
Advancing DEI Award
The Advancing DEI Award recognizes a NGB or HPMO for work their work to increase internal representation of people of color and women. Increased representation is defined as the percentage of growth of underrepresented individuals within each organization and is based on annual diversity data reports. Diversity data is collected from each NGB/HPMO in the following categories: board of directors, employees, NGB membership, national team athletes and national team coaches. The NGB/HPMO with the largest percentage increase is awarded the Advancing D&I Award.
DEI Choice Award
The DEI Choice Award identifies a NGB or HPMO for the creation of a single diversity, equity and inclusion best practice or a series of diversity, equity and inclusion best practices. An internal selection committee comprised of representatives from the USOPC diversity and inclusion, human resources, Paralympic sport, and NGB organizational development departments narrows down the submissions. Three to five finalists are selected and distributed on the final ballot, which is open for NGB and HPMO voting.
