Olympic – Miraitowa

  • The name Miraitowa is based on the Japanese words “mirai,” meaning future, and “towa,” meaning eternity. This mascot represents the wish that through the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, a future of everlasting hope will carry on in the hearts of everyone around the world.

Paralympic – Someity

  • The name Someity comes from “Someiyoshino,” a popular type of cherry blossom and the phrase “so mighty.” This mascot represents Paralympic athletes who overcome obstacles and redefine the boundaries of possibility.
