COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Sally Roberts (Colorado Springs, Colo./Army WCAP) earned the No. 3 spot on the U.S. Women’s National Team at 60 kg/132 lbs. with a victory in a Special Wrestle-off held at the U.S. Olympic Training Center on Friday.

Roberts scored a 10-0 technical fall over Brieana Delgado (Fountain Inn, S.C./OKCU Gator RTC), in 1:23. Roberts scored the initial takedown on a spin behind, then tilted Delgado four times, each for two points, to secure the first period fall.

Roberts is a past two-time World bronze medalist, who did not compete between 2008-2013, making a comeback this season.

This Wrestle-off became necessary after the U.S. Non-Olympic World Team Trials had ended. National champion Jennifer Page could not compete at the Trials in Fargo, N.D. due to injury then received an extension on her championship series against World Team Trials winner Jenna Burkert. When Page could not compete for the No. 1 spot, she became No. 2 on the national team.

Delgado placed second and Roberts placed third at the Non-Olympic World Team Trials, but did not face each other. This match was the true-third bout to determine the No. 3 spot on the national team.

“I have been working a lot with the WCAP coaches and with Terry Steiner and the girls at the Olympic Training Center on not giving up any easy points and pushing the pace. When I got into a situation I felt comfortable in par terre, I was able to exploit that,” said Roberts
