“This is the second year the JBT Championship is at Bradford Beach,” Manager of the Junior Beach Tour, Veronica Sanchez, said. “It’s a beautiful facility to host a championship. You’ll see the top teams from all over the country, kids who have been playing beach volleyball all year and traveling around the country all summer.”

The Championship Division, consisting of 212 teams, is comprised of athletes that qualified for the Championship by placing in the Top 3 in Opens or Top 5 in Grand Slams at one of the JBT Tour stops this summer. On the Club Division side, which is open to athletes who want to compete in the Championship, 77 teams are currently registered – with more expected to be added before the big event.

“We estimate over 300 teams to participate this year,” said Sanchez. Numbers have increased each year of the Championships, including the fact that 2014 will be the first time the event will have competition over three days. This year is also expected to break 2013’s record of 272 participating teams.

Athletes from four divisions will be at the tournament, including the following age groups for both girls and boys: 18U, 16U, 14U and 12-and-under.
