Rosenthal Withdraws from Brazil Slam
CHULA VISTA, Calif. (Oct. 6, 2013) – U.S. beach volleyball player Sean Rosenthal has withdrawn from the FIVB Grand Slam event in Sao Paolo, Brazil due to injury.
Casey Jennings (Las Vegas) will play with Phil Dalhausser (Ormond Beach, Fla.), Rosenthal’s partner, at the tournament in Brazil. Dalhausser and Rosenthal (Redondo Beach, Calif.) have won three FIVB tournaments this year in Fuzhou, China, Rome and Long Beach, Calif. They are ranked eighth in the FIVB World Tour rankings.
Other U.S. men’s teams scheduled to compete in Sao Paolo main draw are Jake Gibb (Bountiful, Utah) and Casey Patterson (Van Nuys, Calif.) along with Nick Lucena (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) and Ryan Doherty (Toms River, N.J.). Brad Keenan (Westminster, Calif.) and John Mayer (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) are entered in the qualification bracket.
On the women’s side, Kerri Walsh Jennings (Saratoga, Calif.) and April Ross (Costa Mesa, Calif.) will continue their new partnership in Brazil’s main draw along with Jennifer Fopma (Bellflower, Calif.) / Brooke Sweat (Fort Meyers, Fla.) and Lauren Fendrick (Carlsbad, Calif.)/ Brittany Hochever (Fowler, Colo.).
Emily Day (Torrance, Calif.) and Summer Ross (Carlsbad, Calif.) are entered in the women’s qualification bracket.
