U.S. Beach Teams Competing in Mexico and France

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (June 4, 2013) A total of four U.S. men’s and women’s beach volleyball teams are set to compete in the fourth leg of the NORCECA Beach Volleyball Circuit from June 6-10 in Toluca, Mexico, while one women’s team will represent the U.S. at a three-day FIVB exhibition event that kicks off June 5 in Lille, France.

The U.S. beach volleyball teams of Summer Ross (San Diego, Calif.) and Heather Hughes (Fallbrook, Calif.), along with Emily Day (Torrance, Calif.) and Whitney Pavlik (Laguna Beach, Calif.) are featured among some of the top competition in the NORCECA Beach Volleyball Circuit women’s division.

Pavlik charted two silver finishes in the first three NORCECA events of 2013, while Ross captured a silver at Dominican Republic and bronze at Guatemala.

Notable rankings and experience are also offered by the U.S. men’s teams of Brad Keenan (Westminster, Calif.) and John Mayer (Thousand Oaks, Calif.), and Stafford Slick (Andover, Minn.) and Casey Jennings (Las Vegas, Nev.). Keenan and Mayer finished second in the Dominican Republic, Mayer and Slick finished fourth in Guatemala, while Jennings and Slick finished fourth in the Cayman Islands.

The two U.S. men’s teams will join 13 other pairs for the fourth stop of the year while the two U.S. women’s team will be among 12 other duos.

The U.S. women’s team of Lauren Fendrick (Carlsbad, Ind.) and Brittany Hochevar (Fowler, Colo.) will be one of four teams competing in France’s FIVB exhibition event next weekend. Japan, Canada and Brazil are the other three countries that will send teams to compete.

Both events will begin with pool play and progress to the championship. The FIVB exhibition event finals are set for Sunday in France, while the NORCECA Beach Volleyball Circuit semifinals will begin following pool play.
