2014 April Junior Roller Derby Spotlight Trademark
USARS ATHLETE SPOTLIGHT
Thank you to http://ddproshots.com/ for the photos!
Hometown: Fort Wayne, Indiana
Occupation: High School student
Career goals: I want to be on the Team USA for junior roller derby and go off to college.
Current league: Happy Camper Roller Girls and Fort Wayne Derby Brats
Years involved in derby: I have been around derby for 11 years and I have played for 7 years.
Favorite derby position (blocker, pivot, jammer): Honestly I don't care what position I am, as long as I'm on the floor I'm happy.
When did you begin skating: I have been skating since I was 6, and I joined my first derby team when I was 9.
Fondest memory of skating: Going to Junior Con 2013 and getting to meet, be taught by, and play with some of my derby idols. Also getting MVP Blocker for the first time ever when playing with the Happy Camper Roller Girls.
Future goals you hope to obtain as a skater: I would love to become that one player that everyone remembers because they are just that good and skillful. Also I would love to make the Team USA for junior roller derby and continue to improve with my derby skills and knowledge.
Awards and/or honors received in roller sports: MVP Blocker
Other sport you currently participate in: Color Guard
Who is your favorite sports figure: My favorite sports figure would have to be my coach Minx. She has helped me go from a kid who couldn't even stand on her skates for a whole jam from tripping myself and not being able to take or give a hit to the player and person I am today. She is so smart with game play and is just a great person in general and I love her to death.
Who is the person you most admire/greatest influence in your life and why: I bet by that last answer you could never tell who I look up too ha,ha. In all seriousness Tonya Vojtkofsky(Minx) is the person I admire because she is selfless and is a great influence in my life. I am so blessed to have her in my life and she is just so amazing and she is actually the reason why I started doing derby. When I was 6 she was my idol and I would go to every single derby bout to watch her skate.
List your hobbies: derby, watching TV, frequent napping, and bike riding
What music do you listen to during training or competition: I love listening to Pink before a bout because she always gets be hyped for a big bout.
What makes you a unique and special person: I am very passionate about everything I do and I never miss a chance to tell anyone how much I love derby. Also I am a talkative red head who is a loud mouth......
Do you have any pre-game rituals: Not really, well unless you call getting super nervous a ritual.
Favorite movie: Beetlejuice, it's so stupid you have to love it!
Favorite place to shop: Target
Most prized possession: My skates and cats.
If you could pick one word to describe you, what would it be: Passionate.
Anything else you would like us to know about you: I am really proud of both of my derby teams because we work really hard and we all just really love this sport. Derby was the only sport I have really stuck with throughout the 7 plus sports I have done. The reason being, derby is a sport where everyone fits in and there is no "odd man out" and I am proud to be a part of such an amazing sport. Hopefully I continue playing derby until I am well into my 80's along with my teammates. Also thank you so much to have recognized me out of the thousands of derby players everywhere and for promoting a sport where everyone can be themselves.
