Florham Park roller figure skaters bound for nationals

July 10, 2014, 1:43 p.m. (ET)

FLORHAM PARK – Once again, members of the Florham Park Figure Skating Club are heading to the national championships, to be held July  20 through Aug. 2 in Lincoln, Neb.

But first, they could use a little financial push.

The club already has two coveted national titles in addition to other numerous awards. Not only that, but the number of members competing in Nationals has doubled to 12 this year. The team consists of skaters ages 6 to 30, many of whom train up to five days a week.

To help offset the large expense of traveling and competing in the Nationals, the club will host their annual benefit from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. tomorrow, Friday, July 11, at the Florham Park Skating Park, located at the corner of Columbia Turnpike and Ridgedale Avenue.

“Fun in the Sun” will include performances and family activities.

Tickets are $10 each and include the cost of skate rentals. Food will be available for purchase.
