Nominations for USOC’s Annual Awards are NOW OPEN!

USOC’s Annual Olympic Torch & Olympic Rings Awards

USA Judo encourages you to nominate someone, or a program that you believe showcases the true ideals of the Olympic movement. This could be the time to recognize the positive impact that judo, a beautiful sport we are all so passionate about, can have on others.

Nominations

Nominations are now being accepted for three prestigious United States Olympic Committee awards: the Olympic Torch Award and two Rings of Gold Awards; one for an individual and one for a program. This award is presented annually at the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Assembly.

An Awards Committee will review all nominations. Recipients will be honored during the 2014 U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Assembly, held Sept. 25-26 in Chicago. Please refer to the form that you wish to submit a nomination for and send it once completed.

  • The deadline for submission is Thursday, July 31, 2014.
  • Questions and completed nomination forms should be sent to awards@usoc.org.
  • Each nominator may submit one nomination per award category.

CATEGORIES

Olympic Torch

Recognizes an individual who has positively impacted the Olympic Movement and has contributed to promoting the Olympic Ideals throughout the U.S. This award also is presented annually at the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Assembly.

Criteria

  • Honors an individual
  • Recognizes meaningful impact on U.S. Olympic Movement
  • Does not need to be awarded in same year of contributions

Olympic Torch Award Nomination Form


Rings of Gold

Inaugurated in 1996 – annually recognize an individual and a program dedicated to helping children develop their Olympic or Paralympic dreams and reach their highest athletic and personal potential. This award is presented annually at the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Assembly.
Now an annual honor, the recipient has made a positive impact on the Olympic Movement in the United States and has made many contributions to promoting the Olympic Ideals throughout the country.

Individual Criteria

  • Honors an unsung hero involved with children and sport
  • Exhibits commitment to the Olympic and Paralympic movements
  • Demonstrates values of Olympism
  • Does not need to be awarded in same year of contributions

Rings of Gold Award Nomination Form (Individual)


Program Criteria

  • Recognizes a grassroots program that introduces children to Olympic/Paralympic sport
  • Demonstrates commitment to the Olympic and Paralympic movements through sports programming
  • Reaches a diverse population
  • Incorporates the Olympic Ideals into program
  • Does not need to be awarded in same year of program
