Call for Nominations for Athlete Director on USOC Board

The Athletes’ Advisory Council is seeking nominations for the role of Athlete Director for the US Olympic Committee Board of Directors. Please see the attached “US Olympic Committee Board Qualifications” for details regarding the USOC’s process in selecting new directors. Please pay special attention to the qualifications and experience that nominees should possess for the role of athlete director.

The deadline for nominations is 7:00 PM EST on Friday, July 25, 2014.

All nominees must meet the 10-year rule (as defined by the USOC Bylaws Section 5.6.3) at the start of the new director’s term on January 1, 2015. Nominees are asked to include the date of their last Olympic, Paralympic, Pan American, or Parapan American or other Operation Gold event in their letter of intent.

Qualified nominees will be invited to interview via teleconference, with the AAC Nomination and Interview Committee in early August. Furthermore, the top candidates will be invited to attend the US Olympic and Paralympic Assembly in Chicago, September 26-27, 2014, to present to the entire Athletes’ Advisory Council. The AAC will then vote for two candidates to forward to the USOC Nomination and Governance Committee for further interviews.
