Began boxing: Jen began amateur boxing in 2009 looking to try something new. Prior to boxing, Jen’s passion for the beautiful game lead to her Seattle University to play soccer for their women’s Division 1 soccer team.  Her last year in college, Jen also competed on SU’s track and cross country teams. But through injury and tentativeness, Jen didn’t have the college sports career that she had always dreamed of. Enter boxing in 2009. Through boxing competition, she found a way to physically experience some of the principles she took on in her formal philosophy studies (Seattle University B.A. 2009), including the ability to access power and emotion and  to recognize personal reactions in the ring. Through boxing and community outreach projects, Jen is working to become more mentally and physically aware of herself and those around her, as well as learning how to take on matches both in and outside of the ring.

Greatest asset in the ring: Movement and throwing punches from any angle.

If Jen was not boxing, she would be: Participating in roller derby! She would also focus on graduate school, as she is not currently able to balance both.

Jen's biggest inspiration: Her head coach Tricia Turton and her favorite professional female boxer Melissa “The Hurricane” Hernandez – who always remembers to have fun in the ring.

Jen’s favorite thing about boxing: Her personality outside of ring always shows up inside the ring.  Boxing allows her to be creative –she loves to change up her style.

Did you know?
Jen has a blog – – where she talks about her passion for boxing, philosophy and everything in between.  When she is not boxing, she is hanging out in Seattle with her basset hound puppy Moose, riding her motorcycle, and playing pick-up soccer in Seattle.
