Uppercut Boxing Gym

When did you start boxing and why:  When I was a kid, my friend and I used to punch the heavy bag in her family’s basement. As adults, she asked me if it was a sport I ever really considered trying out. I looked up gyms in Minneapolis and started attending classes for the incredible workout and to get into shape. From there I guess I just fell into a good groove. It felt right in my body and I loved being in the ring. I continued saying “yes” to opportunities that would help me improve and eventually ended up beginning to compete.
Occupation: Personal trainer, boxing instructor, yoga teacher
Greatest asset in the ring: Tenacity – even when I’m being challenged, I don’t want to and won’t give up. I try to keep making adjustments until something works.
If you weren’t boxing, what would be doing? I would be opening my own yoga studio and spending much more time with my family.
Biggest inspiration:
My coach

Biggest motivation
: The support from my family, friends, and my gym back home. Knowing that they are all there supporting my work at the OTC and in competition for Team USA is incredibly empowering!
