BWF World Training Center Programs Information

BWF WORLD TRAINING CENTERS OFFER SOFIA AND GUANGZHOU PROGRAM

SOFIA PROGRAM

The BWF is running programs for the Badminton World Training Centre in Sofia, Bulgaria in 2008 for Athletes/Coaches.

Entries close 6 weeks prior to the start of every program. You can view program on the BWF website. Entries must be returned to Peggy Savosik at the National Office and will then be sent to the Pan Am office for processing.

Age Groups:
Athletes must be between the ages of 18-23 (or indicated otherwise)

Number of Athletes per Country:
2 male/2 female players per country (or indicated otherwise)

Intensive Training in:
• Basic Strokes & Footwork (Skills & Drills)
• Basic Playing skills & Game management skills
• Singles & Doubles play
• Planning of training, fitness training related to Badminton
• Tournaments and social activities are part of the overall program.

A maximum of 20 athletes will be accepted per session.

Sept. 8-Oct. 5 - participants will play BG International Tournament

BWF will cover costs for accommodation, food, training, shuttles and everything related to the program in Sofia.

The players will have to cover the costs for the trip to Sofia and return.

Program/Dates:
August 4th – August 31st, Entry Deadline – June 20th
September 8th – October 5th, Entry Deadline – July 25th
October 20th – November 15th, Entry Deadline – September 5th

GUANGZHOU PROGRAM

The BWF is running programs for the Badminton World Training Centre in Guangzhou, China in 2008 for Athletes/Coach Development.

Entries close 6 weeks prior to the start of every program. You can view program on the BWF website. Entries must be returned to Peggy Savosik at the National Office and will then be sent to the Pan Am office for processing.

Athletes must be between the ages of 18-23 (or indicated otherwise)

Number of Athletes per Country:
2 male/2 female players per country (or indicated otherwise)

Program Level
All intake programs are designed for intermediate and high level athletes as indicated in the 2008 program and published on the BWF webpage/section development.

Intensive Training in:
• Basic Strokes & Footwork (Skills & Drills)
• Basic Playing skills & Game management skills
• Singles & Doubles play
• Individualized overall training planning including fitness training related to Badminton
• Tournaments and social activities are part of the overall program

A maximum of 20 athletes will be accepted per session.
